See what people are saying about Seattle Shibari!
I've taught hundreds of students over the years and I am delighted when they take them time to share feedback.
My teaching style is a unique blend of traditional Japanese pedagogy and modern Western instructional research, drawn from decades of experience in both traditional Japanese cultural arts and professional curriculum development and presentation.
My workshops welcome people of all genders, body types, and sexual orientations, and my goal is always to create a low-key, relaxed, and enjoyable learning experience.
"I just completed a private intro lesson last night with Seattle Shibari and it was absolutely fantastic! He was really great about showing how to complete ties and then guiding me through them. My husband was very comfortable working with him as well. We are both looking forward to future opportunities to learn from Seattle Shibari and highly, highly recommend him for anyone looking to learn rope work and for anyone wanting to have some customization in the lesson, a private lesson is well worth it.--"
"Just wanted to drop you a quick note to say thanks for Friday. It was meaningful to XXX and me and something we hadn't done before. We appreciated your professionalism and the care you showed towards us both."
"I have taken both private and public classes from Seattle Shibari as well as from other instructors, and I can unequivocally say that Jonathan is by far the best rope instructor I have ever seen. It is not just the fact that he is good with rope. Or that he understands the meaning and function behind each knot. His true value as a teacher comes from his ability to explain something complex and potentially very dangerous in the most actionable and fun way possible. If you're interested in the art of rope, attend one of his workshops. I know I will continue to do so for years to come. Thank you!"
"You are so very thorough and full of information...your lesson was spectacular!"
"My partner and I both have high expectations and strong opinions about instructors, and we have always walked away from Seattle Shibari's classes with nothing but good things to say... I'm particularly appreciative of Seattle Shibari's attention to consent and respect of bottoms (especially asking the bottom before touching them or the ties on them) and his general demeanor that doesn't demand respect, but rather earns it through his actions. I'd recommend that anyone take his classes if you have the opportunity."
"I love your pedagogical approach that seamlessly blends humor, aesthetic, and hard skills."
